merryville project heading

About | Sculptures| Wall Art | Lilin Studio

Once I established the idea of creating the Merryville project, I chose one of the heads and several hands and feet I had sculpted before, made silicone molds out of them, and reproduced 20 sets of body parts from the molds by casting them in resin.  All villagers in the Merryville project are created from the same basic face, but they all have their own unique personalities and appearances.  Although made from the same molds, all of the sculptures in the series are one-of-a-kind.  Skills involved in constructing them include sculpting, mold making and casting, armature building (which involves woodworking and soldering techniques), costume designing (which includes wig and shoe making, and sewing), needle felting for the animals, and mechanical engineering for villagers with movements.
